Grey is the ''New'' Chocolate Brown

The hottest colour for this wedding season is grey! Personally, I have adored the colour grey for a long time (my entire house is painted grey!), and I am happy that it's finally getting it's fair share in the spotlight! Here is what the knot.com has to say:

"Steel gray will replace chocolate brown as the accent color. We absolutely love this soft yet deep hue teamed with butter yellow, bright aqua, rich eggplant, or pale pink. It's so versatile! Introduce the color in your stationery, either in the typeface or paper, and then gradually build it into your reception space by way of slate gray table accents and pewter-toned bridesmaid dresses with a contrasting sash."

I still love chocolate brown though... hmmm... a chocolate brown and grey wedding? maybe not!

handmade

I am in love with this hand cream made by Philosophy. It does not leave my hands greasy and it leaves them smelling so yummy, like lemon custard! Best of all, Philosophy products all have their own philosophy printed on the package, this one says:

"create with your hands, heal with your hands,
touch with your hands, work with your hands,
extend your hands and pray with your hands"

Who knew a hand cream could be so inspirational?

PostSecret.blogspot.com

I came across this blog surfing the net today. The premise behind it is people mail in their secrets (good and bad) on one side of a postcard, and then the blogger posts it on his blog for the whole world to see.

Some of the secrets are cute and funny. Some of the secrets made my stomach turn.

Check it out for yourself http://postsecret.blogspot.com/

all grown up...

That is my baby sister, yes baby sister. No matter how old she gets, no matter if she gets married, no matter if she has children, she will always be my baby sister. I am 9 years older than her, so I have always been her ''second mom". I changed her diapers when she was a baby, I fixed her hair for school photos and birthday parties. I have attended every single one of her school plays, ballet recitals and school graduations.

Today, she graduated from her Psychiatric Nursing Program, and we attended her graduation ceremony. I was happy to see her accomplish her goal, but sad to see her officially '' grown up''. It was like seeing one of my babies all grown up! I can't even imagine the state I will be in on her wedding day!

*Sigh* I guess this is just practice for when my actual babies ''grow up''.

I heart Mail

I heart mail, and I'm not referring to email. I am talking about good old fashion snail mail. Ok, I don't love ALL mail, I can do without the bills, junkmail, flyers etc. But I LOVE receiving birthday cards, invitations, Christmas cards, change of address cards.. you name it! Oh, don't get me started on packages....I love getting packages in the mail. I don't shop online too often (the shipping rates to Canada are outrageous!) but when I do, I happily skip to the mail box everyday, hoping that my package has arrived (brown paper packages tied up with string.. these are a few of my favorite things!!) Sound of Music!! duh!

I know that there is a trend towards electronic wedding invitations lately. With everyone going ''green", saving paper is a no-brainer. So, a lot of brides and grooms have opted to sending out paperless invitations. I think that this is a great idea... but there is nothing like going to your mail box and receiving a wedding invitation. It is the guest's first glimpse into the couple's big day. Every detail on the invite has been personally chosen by the couple. Whether it's a modern, traditional, simple or extravagant invitation, that little piece of paper sets the tone for the whole wedding.

Love Day

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. With my daughter in pre-school she has become very aware of all up-coming holidays. Her pre-school class has been busily preparing for Valentine's Day, today they made a heart-shaped ''mail box''. They will be able to ''deliver'' all their cards to eachother in the mail boxes. They are also having a Valentine's day party. All this has made Zoe extremely excited for Valentine's Day. The first thing she says to me when she wakes up is: '' Mommy, is it Valentine's Day yet?''. This may sound cute, but she has been asking me every morning for the past week or so.

Personally, I am not a big fan of Valentine's day. I believe that you should tell your significant other, your life partner that you love him/her everyday. But when you have a little girl like mine, all holidays (even the ones that I don't really like) are exciting.

She is already gearing up for Easter too...
